Easy DIY Balloon Garland!

Step 1: Gather All Your Materials

All you’ll need for this fun and easy project is:

  • clear shipping tape
  • duct tape
  • scissors
  • step stool or ladder
  • nails and a hammer, or wall-safe hooks
  • chicken wire
  • wire cutter
  • low-temperature glue gun
  • fun balloons
  • balloon pump
  • loose foliage (optional)

Tips:

  • Make sure you’re using a low-temperature glue gun. The heat from regular glue guns may pop your balloons.
  • Decide on your color palette before shopping for your balloons. You can stick to one color or have a mix of three to four shades.
  • Have fun with it! Choose bright, colorful, and pretty balloons to liven up your space.

You may need to take a quick trip to the dollar store for a few of these items, but you’ll actually find most of them around your house.

Step 2: Make a Sketch of Your Balloon Garland

It’s always best to begin your project with a plan. Draw up a simple sketch of your balloon garland.

It doesn’t have to be perfect, but your sketch should give you an idea of where the garland will begin and end. You can also use the sketch to plot out the colors and arrangement of the balloons.

Tip: Instead of sketching your plan by hand, use your smartphone. Take a photo of the wall and use a photo editing app to sketch your garland.

Step 3: Set Up Your Chicken Wire

If you don’t mind adding a few holes in your wall, use nails and a hammer to set up your chicken wire. Otherwise, use wall-safe hooks.

The first thing you need to do is to make an “invisible frame” that patterns the shape of your garland.

Start off by hammering in a nail or attaching a hook on the wall where your garland will be at its highest. Add a few more hooks or nails to hold the chicken wire in place.

Unroll your chicken wire and hang it on the nails/hooks. Use your wire cutter to trim off any excess chicken wire.

If you want to secure the chicken wire further, you can use duct tape in the strategic areas. Don’t worry about it looking messy — it’ll all be hidden under your beautiful balloons!

Tip: Try to involve your older kids or recruit your crafty girlfriends to help you with this DIY project! It’s helpful to have extra hands and eyes when you’re setting up the chicken wire and putting up the balloons.

Step 4: Make Balloon Clusters

Use the balloon pump to blow up balloons in different sizes. Stick three or four different-sized balloons together with the glue gun.

Tip: Consult your sketch to help you figure out the color combinations you’ll need for your balloon clusters.

Step 5: Add Your Balloon Clusters

This is the fun part! It all comes together when you begin attaching the balloon clusters on the chicken wire.

Attach some clear https://hotcanadianpharmacy.com/ shipping tape (about 10-12 inches long) on the tail of the largest balloon in each cluster. Then add a smaller piece of tape (about 2-3 inches long) on the other side of the tail to secure the tape on the balloon.

It’s kind of like sandwiching the balloon’s tail in between two pieces of tape.

Attach the balloon on the chicken wire using the remainder of the long tape. Use smaller, single balloons to fill in the gaps between the balloon clusters.

Tip: Try to step back and check on the overall progress of your garland from time to time. You may need to adjust the colors or sizes as you go along.

Step 6: Add the Finishing Touches

You can make your balloon garland extra special by decorating it with loose foliage. Faux flowers, fresh flowers, or leaves will give your balloon garland some added visual texture and warmth.

Tip: If you don’t have any faux or fresh foliage, don’t worry. You can also add streamers, ribbons, or other decorations that you already have at home.
