10 Songs Parents Dedicate To Their Children
Parents love their children the most. A child comes into the parent’s life and fills in a space that the parents never knew it existed in the first place. Growing up, I never understood why my parents were so strict on me. I mean, the curfews, the endless phones calls and the constant warnings against associating my self with certain groups.
Now that I am grown, i know the curfews were to keep us as close as possible, the endless phone calls were, I miss you, in disguise and the warnings were to ensure that we were safe. It all came from love, it was all love. So, here are 10 songs a parent should dedicate to their child, just to remind them how special they are, and the key lyrics from them.
LEE ANN WOMACK – I HOPE YOU DANCE (Parents – Child)
hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living’ might mean taking’ chances, but they’re worth taking’
Loving’ might be a mistake, but it’s worth making’
Don’t let some Hellbent heart leave you bitter
When you come close to selling’ out, reconsider
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
CELINE DION – A MOTHERS PRAYER (Parents – Child)
Every mother’s prayer
Every child knows
Lead her to a place
Guide her with your grace
To a place where she’ll be safe
CAROLE KING – CHILD OF MINE
You don’t need directions
You know which way to go
And I don’t want to hold you back
I just want to watch you grow
You’re the one who taught me
You don’t have to look behind
RASCAL FLATS – MY WISH FOR YOU (Parents- Child)
But more than anything, more than anything
My wish, for you, is that this life becomes all that you want it to
Your dreams stay big, your worries stay small
You never need to carry more than you can hold
And while you’re out there getting where you’re getting to
I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too
CELINE DION – I AM ALIVE (Parents – child)
When you call on me
When I hear you breath
I get wings to fly
I feel that I’m alive, when you look at me
I can touch the sky
I know that I’m alive
K. MITCHELL – MOTHER’S PRAYER
T
The first time I saw you
I knew my life had changed
I would’ve been dead and gone
But I found purpose when I brought you home
And even though I’m not there to tuck you in everyday
I’m not far away
This is what a mother prays
SARA EVANS – YOU WILL ALWAYS BE MY BABY
There he is
My little man
I’m sure he’ll get in trouble every now and then
And I pray to God that when he does
I’ll be just as understanding as my father was
‘Cause the last thing that I wanna do is let him down
So instead of being angry, I’m gonna throw my arms around him
CIARA – I GOT YOU
It all can get so out of control sometimes
You can lose your faith, you can lose your mind
Lose your grip, get stripped of your pride
Till you don’t know how you’re gonna stay alive
And this world can throw you over the track sometimes
Your friends can stab you in the back
Sometimes you just break down
When this life tries to wreck you, I protect you yeah
BOB DYLAN – LORD PROTECT MY CHILD
As his youth now unfolds
He is centuries old
Just to see him at play makes me smile
No matter what happens to me
No matter what my destiny
Lord, protect my child
CLARK RICHARD – RED ROBIN
And when we are apart remember it is not the end
You know enough to know we’ll meet again
I’ll be waiting by the gate
Standing just inside
Til I know you’ve made it home all right
til I know you’ve made it home all right
